The WCOG hiking group sets out each month to find adventure, camaraderie, and a sense of awe at the beauty of the mountains and waterfalls we encounter.
We usually meet at the Perimeter REI parking lot at 8:00am on Saturday morning, then carpool to the mountains, stopping on the way to join up with the rest of our group who live a bit north of Atlanta.
The hiking distance is usually about 6 miles and is rated easy to moderate, so the trips are usually suitable for beginning as well as experienced hikers.
We pack a lunch, bring some water, and put on our walking shoes or hiking boots. We sometimes reward ourselves with dinner at a restaurant on the way back, so we bring dinner money.
To find out about our past monthly hikes, check out Appalachian Trail, Benton MacKaye Trail, or Waterfall Hikes.
For more information about the monthly hikes, please call Jim Norvill at (770) 977-7226 or email him at jnorvill@mindspring.com. To join us, you must be a member of the Walking Club of Georgia or a guest of a member. We will have membership applications available for those of you that are not members.
(Hiking is an excellent form of exercise for most people, but please remember to get your doctor's approval before starting any exercise program.)
