WCOG Monthly Hike October 2009
River Hike Series—Jones Bridge
By Jim Norvill

We had a beautiful day for our seven hikers along the Chattahoochee River near Jones Bridge. The temperature was in the 40s with a little breeze blowing off of the river.
We were fortunate to have two new hikers join us Peter and Susan Eddington, they are also new members to our club. It was great to see Jeanette Harrison again, she was on our second river hike. It wouldn’t be a hike without our regular hikers Scott Harriss, Jack Bacon, and Ellen Miller.
The trail was still a little muddy from the rain and where the river had overflowed it’s banks during the really bad rains a few weeks ago. Everyone had boots on except for a couple of people who didn’t seemed that concerned about it.
This hike is great because it allows for multiple trails both along the river and in the interior near the National Park Service environmental training center. We hiked a total of 5 miles including a short trip to the Jones bridge itself.
All in all it was wonderful and invigorating.
