WCOG Monthly River Hike
Medlock Bridge Trail
Saturday September 19th
By Jim Norvill
What started out with 16 people signed up this hike, quickly reduced to 5 hardy hikers because of the looming rain. It gave us with expensive rain gear a chance try them out. Fortunately it didn’t rain enough to warrant wearing them, just a little muddy that justified wearing boots.
This was the fourth section for us to hike along the Chattanooga River. This is a very good close in hike and very easy for any who wants to get out and do a quick hike.
There were several plants that we had not seen so far on the river series. One new one called “Hearts-A-Burstin” along with the regular plants like Jewel Weed (Impatient), Foam Flower, Wood Asters, and lots of weird looking mushrooms.
This trail is easy with man made bridges over unique creeks that had eroded down to the bedrock.
Our next hike Jones Bridge Trail is scheduled for Sunday October 18th at 9:00 am. See you there.
